I began teaching at Parker Intermediate Center in August of 2016.  I’ve taught Social Studies for three years and Science for two years.   2021 I was the 5^th & 6^th Grade Vitual Support Teacher.  2022 I was the 5^th & 6^th Grade Virtual Teacher.  This year I teach 2^nd grade and absolutely love it! 
 

My love for teaching children began 23 years ago at my local church.  Later, I  decided to become a teacher’s assistant and a special needs worker at Jefferson Early Childhood Center.  It was there that my desire to be a public elementary school teacher grew. I taught there for five years and then decided to go back to college.  While attending to college, I was also an extended care worker at Krebs Elementary School for two years.  I’ve learned so much teaching at Parker Intermediate.   Being there I've attained new teaching strategies, technolgy skills and access to new educational platforms. I serve on the Leadership Team at Emerson Elementary, and I've attended all the training meetings that have equipped me with more classroom behavioral management and teaching  skills specific to lower elementary grades. 

I’ve been married for 23 years to my wonderful husband, Frank. We met when we were both enlisted in the United States Air Force.  We moved to McAlester in 2001, and we both feel very blessed to live in such a friendly and safe community.  We  have raised two sons in McAlester and are raising one more son.  Two of our sons graduated from MHS as  honor students.  My oldest son played basketball, football, baseball, and soccer.  He excelled as a pitcher in baseball and was an excellent soccer player.  He also made the choice to serve in the United States Marine Corps and is currently a business owner.  My middle son excelled in tennis, played the saxophone for the band, received the Oklahoma Academic Scholar Certificate of Recognition, and is currently serving in the United States Air Force.  Our youngest son is currently a MHS student, who lives and breathes playing his saxophone.  He played soccer for McAlester Boys & Girls Club for many years, and he made the 2020-2021 Oklahoma All-State honor band. 

I love to spend time with family and friends, listen to music, go on road trips, shop, read, learn Spanish and Mandarin, play the piano and electric keyboard, and watch movies.  I love traveling! I've been to the Philippines, Canada, Mexico, and many states in the U.S. such as California, New York, Pennsylvania, Florida, Mississippi, Missouri, Texas, Arkansas, Ohio, Arizona, Louisiana, New Mexico, Colorado, Maryland, Hawaii, and Alaska. My future plans are to visit my son in Hawaii, go to the Tulsa Zoo, have lots of fun in the sun at a water park, bring back some interesting souvenirs, and attend some professional development classes.
