Dear Buffalo School Family-

It is with profound sadness that I share the passing of Mr. Shawn Calaway, a dedicated and beloved

educator at McAlester High School. Mr. Calaway joined the MPS family in 2013 and has made a lasting

impact on countless students and colleagues through his passion for teaching, kindness, and commitment

to education.

Mr. Calaway was not only a valued educator but also a mentor, friend, and inspiration to so many. His

legacy will live on in the lives he touched.

To support students and staff during this difficult time, school counselors and local grief support professionals

will be available on campus in the coming days. Anyone in need of emotional support is encouraged to visit the

counseling office or reach out to a trusted staff member.

McAlester Public Schools extends heartfelt condolences to Mr. Calaway's family. As we grieve this

tremendous loss, we will remember and honor his dedication to education and the positive influence

he had on our community.
